Privacy Policy
PanDeSal ("the app") is operated by FoodGenome LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run your journal, we do not sell your data, and you can delete everything from inside the app at any time.
Information we collect
Account information: when you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier from Apple and, if you choose to share it, your email address. We never see your Apple password.
Your journal: the dishes you log — names, ingredients, cuisine, location labels, optional photos or image links, and the flavor ratings you set — along with your favorites and onboarding answers such as favorite cuisines and spice tolerance.
Usage basics: standard server logs (request times, error reports) kept briefly for reliability and debugging. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
How we use your information
To run your journal: storing your dishes so they sync across reinstalls and devices signed into your account.
To make suggestions: your logged dishes and onboarding answers shape the dish recommendations and search results you see. This processing happens for you only — your journal is never shown to other users.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Service providers
We use a small set of infrastructure providers to operate the app: database hosting and app hosting providers store the data described above, and AI-powered features (such as describing a craving in your own words) may send the text of that request to an AI model provider to interpret it. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
Where your data is stored
The app and its providers are based in the United States, and your data is stored and processed in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, you understand your data will be processed here.
Data retention and deletion
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Settings → Delete Account permanently removes your account row and every dish, favorite, and profile record tied to it from our database. This is immediate and cannot be undone.

Your California privacy rights
Notice at collection: we collect the categories above — account identifiers (an Apple identifier and, if you share it, your email), your journal content and preferences, and limited usage logs — directly from you and your use of the app, in order to run your journal and make suggestions. We keep each category only as long as your account exists.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the past 12 months.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we hold, to request a copy of it, to correct it, and to delete it. You can exercise the delete and export rights yourself in Settings, or email hello@eatpandesal.com for any of these requests, including through an authorized agent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored with access controls. Your session token is stored in your device's secure keychain. No method of storage is 100% secure, but we limit what we collect so there is little to lose.
Do Not Track
We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, so there is no cross-site tracking to turn off. We treat all users the same regardless of any browser Do Not Track signal.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the effective date above and note the change in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
